Amisha is Thrilled but not so Malaika

No matter what the fate of Thoda Pyar Thoda Magic, one person who is truly thrilled by the film is none other than actress Amisha Patel. Her cameo of the ditsy, airheaded girlfriend of Saif Ali Khan's character, has come in for a lot of praise from all quarters. In fact, it has even been suggested that actress Rani Mukherjee was not exactly happy about the manner in which Amisha's special appearance was extended on the film.
Amisha has always portrayed the demure girl next door in most of her films. But in Kunal Kohli's Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic, she seems to have stolen the show with her figure hugging dresses and her portrayal of a bimbette. It was quite a revelation for many in the industry. Kohli is believed to have gone on record to say that he got his inspiration for Amisha's character from Malaika Arora Khan. The character is also called Malaika in the film. Unfortunately no one ever told the lovely Malaika that Amisha was portraying her in the film. Naturally, she is not very amused as the portrayal is hardly ever flattering if not far removed from the truth. Another lady whose feathers have been ruffled is Rani. She is the heroine of the film and people should be talking about her, but it turns out that the limelight has been snatched by Amisha. Amisha and Kunal together seem to have created quite a bit of hostility around.

Amisha Patel in Sandalwood

Amisha Patel rose to fame through Rakesh Roshan's Kaho Naa Pyar Hai (2000). Now, nine years after she forayed into films, this Mumbai girl is all set to spread her charms in Sandalwood, revamped and more beautiful. Amisha, who has already acted in a few South Indian films, is rumoured to be the heroine in the remake of the Telugu hit Athanokkade. Debutant Naveen will direct the film and the hero will be a newcomer. The film will be launched on Ugadi day and shooting will begin in April. Amisha's career, which started in 2000, was not a smooth ride. Her first two films (Kaho Na Pyar Hai and Gadar) were huge hits but she hit the low point in 2002 after a series of her films flopped. The slump continued till 2006 when she came out with a brillaint performance in Ankahee. The bikini act in Thoda Pyar Thoda Magic (2008) has brought media attention towards her again. The fabulous-looking Amisha, who toned up her body for the film, stole the hearts with an excellent performance as the dumped girlfriend of Saif Ali Khan.

Kick coming on May 7

May 7 has been set as the release date of Kick directed by Surender Reddy with Ravi Teja and Ileana in the lead. Ashmika and Tamil actor Shyam play important roles in the film. Brahmanandam, Sunil, Kota Srinivasa Rao, Dharmavarapu Subrahmanyam, Sayaji Shinde, Jayaprakash Reddy, Ali, Rahgubabu and Jeeva are the other important artists in the film. The shooting of the talkie portions is over and the crew is in presently in Malaysia to can the songs. The shooting is expected to be complete by 20th March. Kick is an action adventure flick produced by R.R. Movie Makers with a hefty budget of Rs. 20 crores; Ravi Teja plays the role of a betting master in the film.

Pista on May 29

Telugu-Tamil action hero Vishal's big budget bilingual Pista (Thoranai in Tamil), directed by Iyappan and produced by Vishal's brother Vikram Krishna under the banner of GK Films Corporation, will be simultaneously released across the screens of Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh on May 29. The audio of Pista was recently released under the Think Music label. Music is by Mani Sharma. Touted to be a high voltage action thriller, Pista marks the grand entry of sexy Shriya Saran in Tollywood. Another highlight of the film is Prakashraj, who is cast as a villain to match Vishal's muscle power. Ali, Tanikella Bharani, M.S. Narayana, Telangana Sakunthala and Annapurna are also in the cast. Script is by the director himself. Priyan handles cinematography while V.T. Vijayan does the editing. Music is composed by Mani Sharma. Lyrics are by Vennelakanti, Sahithi, Ananth Sriram and dialogues are by Shashank Vennelakanti.

Only Anil Kapoor was convinced that I can do comedy: Kangana

After a string of films where she portrayed a troubled woman, Kangana Ranaut is all set to change audience perception about her with a comedy film 'No Problem' and she thanks Anil Kapoor, who is producing the comedy, for giving her the opportunity.
'I had decided whenever I do my first comedy it would have to be either with Anees Bazmee or David Dhawan. Everyone thought I was wrong for the part in 'No Problem'. No one was convinced I could do comedy, not after playing all those traumatised roles. But Anilji convinced everyone that I could,' Kangana told IANS.
The film is being directed by Anees Bazmee and also stars Sushmita Sen.
'So far I've never had fun on the sets. All the characters I've played have been introverted and troubled. So I've been in my shell. During 'Fashion' Madhur Bhandarkar used to scold me for being in a shell all the time. But if I play insecure, paranoid characters, I can't be laughing and playing around. But it was the nature of the characters.
'For Anees Bazmi's film I'm changing completely. I'm going to organise parties on the sets, constantly crack Santa-Banta jokes and, most important of all, I will bond with Sushmita (Sen). Hopefully our bonding will last beyond one film,' she said.
After signing a film together, Sushmita has taken the lovely Kangana under her wings. Always known to be warm towards her co-stars, Sushmita has taken a special fancy to Kangana because of her facial resemblance to Sushmita's daughter Renee.
'On the first day that we met, we struck a special chord in each other's hearts. I was standing at a premiere and she came up to me. She held my face in her hands and said I've hair exactly like her daughter. And that whenever she saw me she was reminded of her daughter.
'From that moment onwards we bonded. Luckily, I play Sushmita's sister in the film that we're doing together. I love calling her didi,' said the actress who won best supporting actress Filmfare award for her performance in 'Fashion'.
Kangana, who starred in films like 'Woh Lamhe' and 'Gangster - A Love Story', is pleased to be finally doing comedy.
'I was really hurt when people said I was destined only to play tragic roles. I wanted to do comedy for the longest time. And that I've Sushmita playing my sister in the film is an added bonus. We'll have a ball playing sisters,' she said.
