'2 Harihar Nagar' creating sensation

What a response to the latest Malayalam film 2 Harihar Nagar from the Malayalam cinegoers. This new film that was directed by Lal is going to become the first Superhit of the year 2009. This new sensational film was the sequel to the hit film In Harihar Nagar that was released about 18 years ago. All the way, this sequel will surely surpass the original movie.
This new film is doing extra ordinary business all over the state. It has grossed Rs 3.60 crore in 9 days, with a distributor’s share of Rs 2.12 crore. For example, in Trivandrum it has grossed Rs 19, 80,460 from Sree Padmanabha and Parthas and also the film is featuring 100% collections from almost all the centers in which the film is playing.
With this type of a performance by this movie, all the other films that were released on the same period have recieved a blow in it's collections. Mohanlal’s Saagar Alias Jacky has now been shifted from the bigger screen to the smaller screen due to the rush for the movie 2 Harihar Nagar. Suresh Gopi’s IG is now virtually out of the theatres.
Jayaram’s Samsthakeralam P O and Dileep's Moz And Cat were opened to lukewarm responses mainly due to the good business by the movie 2 Harihar Nagar. This new film is going to be the first choice for the family and children since the upcoming days are the long Summer holidays. 2 Harihar Nagar is definitely 2009 summer smash hit.
The film opened in 63 screens, but on the fifth day 11 more screens were added. It will surely state the status of the film at the current situation and the entire industry is looking upto Sathyan Anthikad’s Jayaram film Bhagyadevata releasing on April 23. Whether Sathyan Anthicad will be able to pull back 2 Harihar Nagar some steps backward.

IPL in South Africa won't affect Indian following: Sachin

Batting genius Sachin Tendulkar Tuesday said Indian Premier League (IPL) has changed the face of cricket in the country and feels the shifting of the Twenty20 tournament to South Africa would not impact its following in India.
The IPL this year will be played in South Africa as it clashed with the general elections in the country.
'IPL has changed the Indian cricket. It is the first time in cricket that players from all over the world are competing against one another. It is a great opportunity for the younger players who get to rub shoulders with the top players,' Tendulkar said at a reception by Jaypee Group.
'It is disappointing for the Indians that the IPL has been shifted to South Africa. I am sure the BCCI did its best to hold it in the country. But I do not think that it will affect the popularity of IPL. It will be followed as much as it was last year.'
Tendulkar, who is the captain of the Mumbai Indians, said the team is prepared for the challenge.
'Mumbai Indians are a balanced team. We have a good blend of experience and youth. We have wonderful players in Sanath Jaysuriya, J.P. Duminy, Abhishek Nayar. I hope even this time our players will impress with their performance and have a terrific impact on all other guys,' Sachin said.
'Shaun Pollock and Jonty Rhodes are mentoring the team. The team has been practising in South Africa from past month, and Pollock and Jonty are guiding the team how to make the best of the condition,' he said.
Asked to comment on Kolkata Knight Riders multiple captain theory, Tendulkar said: 'I don't know what to say about the multiple captains but multiple suggestions always come to a captain.'
'I am only concerned about Mumbai Indians and don't have anything to say on this issue.'

Murugadoss now wants to direct Shah Rukh Khan

Bangalore, April 14 (IANS) After teaming up with Aamir Khan in the hit movie 'Ghajini', Tamil director director Murugadoss now wants to work with Shah Rukh Khan and says he is working on a story right now.
'Yes, I'm working on a subject. I had a meeting with Shah Rukh Khan once and I discussed a story with him. But frankly nothing has been finalised. We are still to meet many a times before a decision is taken,' Murugadoss told reporters Monday at the launch of new Kannada film 'Suryakanthi'.
Murugadoss' 'Ghajini', a remake of a Tamil hit, grossed about Rs.250 crore.
'Hindi film industry is big. The budgets are huge and we have freedom to narrate the film in a big way. I would like to direct one more Hindi film and then return to make South Indian films,' he said.
The director says he incorporated several changes in the script of Hindi remake after watching 'Memento'.
'I watched 'Memento' before writing the script of 'Ghajini'. But one thing I have to emphasise here is that the characterisation of the hero was changed after I saw 'Memento'. In my original script, I had made the hero as a handicapped person after sustaining injuries. But I had changed it and included the memory loss syndrome after seeing Memento,' said Murugadoss.
The director also said he had several rounds of discussion with lead actor Aamir who helped him to create a different script.
'You can see the change in ambience, narration in the Hindi version of 'Ghajini'. I couldn't have made a frame to frame remake of the (Tamil) film. I agreed with Aamir Khan that the climax needs to be changed. And his suggestions were really helpful in adding valuable commercial elements in the film. Aamir Khan is a brilliant actor and director,' said Murugadoss.
Apart from Aamir starrer, Murugadoss has so far directed three Tamil films - 'Dheena', 'Ramana', 'Ghajini'. He has also directed Telugu film 'Stalin' that had Chiranjeevi in lead role. All his five films have been big hits.
A graduate from the Bharathidas University, the 37-year-old director says he writes his own scripts and that reading books and interacting with people help him in writing good stories.
'A director should have a world view. His vision can not be limited when he takes up different type of films. I am interested to know many things and would like to do more research whenever I intend to work with innovative concepts,' said Murugadoss.
